Spiced Chocolate Cherry Bars

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 6 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp. Clabber Girl® Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Nutmeg
  • Dash cloves, ground
  • Dash salt
  • 1 C. butter OR margarine, softened
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 2/3 C. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 C. dried cherries
  • 6 oz white chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 3/4 C. coarsely chopped pecans

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt in a bowl until well mixed.
  3. Beat butter, sugar and brown sugar in a large bowl with electric mixer until creamy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla: beatuntil light and fluffy.
  5. Slowly add flour mixture, beating at low speed just until combined.
  6. Stir in cherries and white chocolate.
  7. Spread in greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  8. Sprinkle with pecans.
  9. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
