Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 C. all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Clabber Girl® Baking Powder
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 C. butter, softened
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 3 Tbsp. cream or evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400° F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in butter until fine. Add the slightly beaten egg, cream (or evaporated milk), and vanilla. Roll out dough on slightly floured surface. Sprinkle with sugar. Cut out with cookie cutters and place on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes until edges just start to brown.
    Makes 2 to 3 dozen cookies, depending on the size of cookie cutters used.
