Ginger Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp. Clabber Girl® Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Cloves
  • 1/3 to 1/2 C. coarse sugar
  • 1 C. coarse sugar
  • 1/2 C. butter OR margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 C. corn syrup, dark

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a medium bowl; set aside.
  3. Beat 1 C. sugar and butter in a large bowl with mixer at medium high speed until well mixed.
  4. Beat in egg and corn syrup until smooth.
  5. Stir in flour mixture.
  6. Refrigerate dough 1 hour or until easy to handle.
  7. Place 1/3 to 1/2 C. sugar in a small dish.
  8. Shape dough into 3/4 to 1-inch balls; roll in sugar.
  9. Place balls 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
  10. Bake in preheated 350˚F oven for 9 to 11 minutes or just until golden around edges.
  11. Cool on baking sheet 1 minute; remove to wire racks to finish cooling.
