Browned Butter Cookies-2

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. Clabber Girl® Baking Soda
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 C. granulated sugar
  • ½ C. brown sugar, packed
  • ½ C. browned butter, softened (see our how-to here)
  • ¾ C. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • granulated sugar for garnish

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In the bowl of a mixer, combine the sugars, butter, and shortening and mix on medium-high speed until creamy and fluffy; scrape the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. On medium speed, add the egg yolks and vanilla and mix until well blended; scraping the sides of the bowl as needed.
  5. With the mixer on low speed, add the flour mixture and blend just until combined.
  6. Scoop out dough with a 1 oz. scoop, roll in granulated sugar, place on a parchment lined baking sheet about 2” apart. Flatten dough with the palm of your hand and sprinkle with more granulated sugar.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges start to brown. Remove from oven and “drop” the baking sheet on the counter to wrinkle the cookies.  Cool on a wire rack.
