Crisco Chocolate Dipped Strawberries (1)

Ingredients

  • 1 C. Milk, Semi-sweet, or Dark Chocolate
  • 1 Tbsp. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
  • Strawberries

OR

  • 1 C. White Chocolate
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
  • Strawberries

 

You can increase the amounts for a larger batch of dipping chocolate

Directions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with waxed paper; set aside.
  2. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate with the shortening, stirring frequently, until smooth.
  3. Carefully remove from heat. Do not allow any steam or water to get in the chocolate.
  4. Wash and dry berries.
  5. Hold berries by the leaves or stems and dip 3/4 of the way in the chocolate.
  6. Shake off excess chocolate and gently place berries on the waxed paper. Allow to set.
  7. If adding sprinkles, nuts, or candies, do so while the chocolate on the berries is still wet.

 

Microwave Instructions:

  1. You can also melt the chocolate in a microwave by placing the chocolate and shortening in a microwave safe bowl and heat 30 seconds at a time, stirring each time, until smooth and melted.
  2. If chocolate gets too thick or firm, simply reheat.
  3. Leftover chocolate can be stored in a container at room temperature and reheated when needed.

Tips

It is very important that no water get in the chocolate or it will seize and will not work for dipping.
