Chewy Brownie Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 C. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 C. Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 C. unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Clabber Girl® Baking Soda
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • Powdered sugar

Directions

  1. HEAT oven to 350ºF. Coat baking sheets with no-stick cooking spray like Baker’s Joy®.
  2. BEAT brown sugar, shortening, water and vanilla in large bowl with mixer on medium speed until well blended. Beat in eggs until blended.
  3. STIR flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda in medium bowl until blended. Beat into shortening mixture on low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tablespoonful 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.
  4. BAKE 8 to 10 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Other combinations of chips may be used, such as 1 C. chocolate chips and 1 C. white chocolate chips, or 1 C. peanut butter chips and 1 C. of chocolate chips, or 1 C. chopped nuts and 1 C. of chocolate chips.
