Caramel Apple Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 envelope pizza crust yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 C. very warm water (120° to 130°F)*
  • 3 Tbsp. Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil

Toppings:

  • 2 tart green apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/3 C. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Clabber Girl® Corn Starch
  • 1/2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp. butter OR margarine, melted
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 C. chopped peanuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Combine 1 C. flour, undissolved yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add very warm water and oil; mix until well blended, about 1 minute. Gradually add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. Dough should form a ball and will be slightly sticky. Knead** on a floured surface, adding additional flour if necessary, until smooth and elastic, about 4 minutes.
  3. Pat dough with floured hands to fill greased pizza pan (with a rim) or baking sheet. OR roll dough on a floured counter to 12-inch circle; place in greased pizza pan or baking sheet. Form a rim by pinching the edge of the dough. Use a fork to dock the crust every inch or so.
  4. Arrange apples in concentric circles on crust. Combine brown sugar, corn starch and cinnamon in a small bowl; mix well. Stir in butter, corn syrup and vanilla. Dollop over apples. Sprinkle with peanuts.
