Molasses Crinkle Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. and grease baking sheets or line them with parchment paper; set aside.
  2. Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses until well blended.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, soda, salt and spices.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the molasses mixture and stir to combine.
  5. If the dough is too soft to handle, chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  6. Scoop out approximately 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball.
  7. Dip the top in the granulated sugar and place sugar side up on the baking sheets.
  8. Repeat with remaining dough. If you need to do multiple batches, store dough in the refrigerator between batches.
  9. Sprinkle the tops of each dough ball with 2-3 drops of water for a crackled surface.
  10. Bake 10-12 minutes.
