Ingredients

  • 1 C. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon zest
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 4 C. powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2-4 Tbsp. milk
  • 4 drops yellow food coloring, optional

Directions

  1. In the bowl of a mixer, cream the shortening, lemon zest, lemon juice and salt until smooth.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, blending on low-medium speed. The mixture may be crumbly.
  3. Add the milk, one tablespoon at a time, until your desired consistency has been reached.
  4. Add the food coloring if using.
  5. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for a week.
  6. Mix before using if stored.
