Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 C. brown sugar
  • 3/4 C. melted butter
  • 1/2 C. McCann’s® Quick Cooking Rolled Irish Oats
  • 2/3 C. granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. Clabber Girl® Corn Starch
  • 1 1/4 C. water
  • 3 C. green apples, peeled, cored and finely diced
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon, plus additional for sprinkling

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F and grease a 9-inch pie pan.
  2. Combine flour, brown sugar, melted butter and oats. Remove 1 C. of the mixture for the topping. Press remaining mixture into a 9-inch pie pan.
  3. For the filling, combine granulated sugar, corn starch and water in a saucepan until smooth, then bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 1 minute or until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in apples, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour filling into prepared crust. Top filling with remaining oat mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste.
  4. Bake for 40 minutes or until crust starts turning to a golden brown and filling is bubbling along the sides.
