Chocolate Granola Bars Recipe

Chocolate-Granola-Bars-LR

Ingredients

  • 2 C. McCann’s® Quick Cooking Rolled Irish Oats
  • 1/2 C. sunflower seeds
  • 1 C. sliced almonds
  • 1/2 C. ground flax seed
  • 6 oz. honey
  • 1/4 C. tightly packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp. Kosher salt
  • 7 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Butter a 9 x 9-inch glass baking dish and set aside.
  2. Spread the oats, sunflower seeds, almonds, and flax seed onto a half-sheet pan.
  3. Place in the oven and toast for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Combine the honey, brown sugar, butter, vanilla and salt in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Simmer until the brown sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat.
  5. Once the oat mixture is done, remove it from the oven and reduce the temperature to 300° F.
  6. In a bowl, combine the oat mixture and the brown sugar mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake at 300° F. for 15 to 18 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Cut into bars or squares and store in an airtight container.
